Singing Tutor

I am a classically trained professional singer: www.rosenolan.com. I hold a double degree Bachelor in Arts (music) and Science (psychology) from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. I hold a Master of Business from the University of Illinois, USA. I completed the Preparatory Opera Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London (2006) and was awarded the following scholarships: Alex Templeton; William Gibbs Religious and Educational Trust; Ars Musica Australis and an Opus 50 Charitable Trust.  I was a finalist for the New York Study Award at the Sydney Opera House and won the Frank Lasslett Memorial Award at the National Liederfest Australia.

I have extensive performance and teaching experience. Whilst a primary focus in my career has been performance, I have taken enormous pleasure in being able to take on a range of teaching responsibilities.

I hold excellent communication skills with a thorough understanding of the relationships between parent, staff and student. I have held a position as a peripatetic singing teacher for several years in an independent day school in London with more than 500 students, of which I taught over 40 pupils per week.  Whilst in Berlin I have been working at the Charles-Dickens-Grundschule running music and dance classes for refugee students and at Berlitz Kids and Teens as a camp director and workshop leader for singing and drama. As a performer, I have worked in the hectic and high pressured environments of the corporate sector, festivals and theatres where it is a must to keep a sense of humour. I enjoy working as part of a team and take initiative where required. I have an excellent understanding of how students learn and how to teach them effectively. I am familiar with the content of the AMEB, the ABRSM and the British GCSE and A Levels music curriculum. I have experience in both planning and assessing students for effective learning. I have always had an excellent relationship with my students and have experience in preparing them for assessment both within a school environment and externally. It is my aim to create a safe and challenging learning environment and I use a wide range of teaching practices and resources to engage my students in effective learning. I am an active member of my profession and and have a wide and ongoing experience as a performer.  I run my own opera company, Kinder Opera, which has a focus on children's opera.

I teach a wide variety of styles including classical, jazz, pop, folk and blues.  I enjoy teaching both one on one and in classroom settings online.

I have had experience teaching singing, acting and music to people of all ages, from adults and adolescence to children and young children.  I have delivered early music learning to groups of up to 30 children from the ages of 3 to 7 years, where children learnt music through singing, instruments and movement games.

As a professional singer, companies I have worked with include Opera Australia, OzOpera, Surrey Opera, Buxton Festival Opera, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Melbourne, Grange Park Opera, Melbourne Opera Company, Independent Classics Melbourne, Gertrude Opera, Yarra Valley Festival, Scottish Opera and Victorian Opera. I toured through China with the 70 piece Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra.
